Crockpot Beef Stroganoff recipe
On the go but still hungry for a hearty meal? This crockpot stroganoff has all the comfort of a traditional recipe, but left to cook on its own for the day, it takes on a new level of silky texture and complex flavors.
Ingredients List:
1 ½ pounds stew meat
1/2 cup flour, for dusting meat
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
1 onion, chopped
2 cups sliced cremini mushrooms
1 cup red wine
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 cup sour cream
Directions:
1. Place meat, flour, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Toss to coat.
2. Heat 1 tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until softened, 5 minutes; remove and transfer to slow cooker.
3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoons butter to the skillet; add the meat and cook until browned, 4 to 6 minutes.
4. Transfer meat to the slow cooker, along with the mushrooms, wine, and mustard. Cook for 8-10 hours on low heat. Before serving add 1 cup sour cream.
5. Serve over hot, buttered egg noodles or rice.
